DATES, PITTED, DEGLET
DATEDEGLET-5
Description:
Deglet Dates possess a delicate flavor and are firm-textured and amber in appearance. Known as "Fingers of Light" Dates are a common food item in the Middle East where they originated as a cultivated crop over 5000 years ago. Today dates are also grown in the U.S. Dates grow best in areas where temperatures are high, humidity is very low and an abundant supply of water is available to the roots. Dates are usually picked green and ripened off the tree before drying. Fresh Dates contain about 55 percent sugar, a percentage that increases as the date dries and the sugar becomes concentrated, making them "natures answer" to our sweet tooth! Our Deglet Dates are a less costly alternative to Medjool Dates. Dates are recommended as a good source of fiber and contain no cholesterol. Deglet Dates are Sun-dried and contain no sulfites.
