TEPIN
TEPIN-1, RR-TEPINCL
Description:
Tepin (tay-peen) Chiles belong to a family of wild peppers known as “bird peppers” or “chiltepins”. These tiny peppers are considered the reigning monarchs of the hot pepper world. Found in the deserts of Arizona, Texas, northern Mexico and parts of Florida, this round small pepper is about the size of a pea and shaped more like a berry than a chile. As its name implies, the Tepin relies on birds to propagate its seeds. The word Tepin is from the Nahuatl language of the Aztec Indians and means “flea”. This little pepper is very spicy with a searing heat so handle with care! Scoville heat units are 40,000 - 50,000.
