OYSTER MUSHROOM
Description:
Oyster mushrooms grow on the dead wood or bark of deciduous trees. They are named for their resemblance in color and shape to the Mollusk. This mushroom's oyster-shaped cap is white to light, creamy yellow and has a mild mushroom flavor and firm texture. Oyster mushrooms are a popular ingredient in many Asian dishes. Oyster Mushrooms are delicious marinated in garlic and olive oil then grilled or broiled. Savory when added to fish chowders and light soups, tasty in casseroles and Au Gratin dishes. A wonderful light accompaniment to meat, whitefish and scallops.
